Position Details
The University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music invites applications for Summer Camp Instructors for our 2024 music-based summer camps.  

WORK TERM:  
July 2 – August 21 
 
DAYS & HOURS OF WORK:   
Weekdays, 8.30am – 4.30pm OR 8:00am – 4:00pm
                                          
HOURLY WAGE:  
$20.00/hour
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Prepare and deliver camp activities based on the pre-set themes of each week of camp.  Campers will be between the ages of 5-7 or 8-12, and the camps will take place at the U of L Conservatory (located downtown at Casa).  
  • Work collaboratively with other camp instructors to prepare the activities and gather supplies and to create a safe, educational, and fun environment for the campers.
  • Effectively supervise all participants based on the supervision/teaching schedule, while encouraging interactive learning and a team atmosphere.
  • Managing drop-off and pick-up of campers each day.
  • Supervise campers as needed, based on the supervision schedule.  
  • Camp themes and dates are noted below.  Please note that camp instructors will begin their work term a week before the camps officially begin in order to learn and prepare all curriculum in advance.

Week 1: July 8 – 12 – Mini-U Music School (Ages 5-7)
Week 2: July 15 – 19  - Wonderful Wizarding World (Ages 8 – 12)
Week 3: July 22 – 26-  Drum & Strum (Ages 8 – 12)
Week 4: July 29 – August 2- Wonderful Wizarding World (Ages 8 – 12)  
Week 5: August 6 – 9- Drum & Strum (Ages 8 – 12)
Week 6: August 12 – 16 – Wonderful Wizarding World (Ages 8 – 12)
Position Qualifications
The successful bidders should have experience working with school-aged students, as well as experience with music education and singing in front of groups of people since this camp will integrate music throughout most of the activities. Experience playing the ukulele would also be considered an asset. 

This position requires the successful bidder to be energetic, outgoing, confident and have excellent organization and event planning skills, as well as a willingness to learn. Familiarity with J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series would be an asset.

All instructors and assistants will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (similar to a criminal record check) at their own expense before receiving a contract with the Conservatory.
