Position Details | The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure track position in Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2024, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $79,132 – $92,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, with a focus on Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. We seek applicants with demonstrated potential for producing high-quality research, and potential for securing research funding. In addition, we seek applicants who will forge interdisciplinary collaborations and contribute to the University’s Graduate Certificate in Foundations of Data Science. The successful applicant will teach in both the Computer Science and Data Science programs and supervise student research trainees. Therefore, we seek applicants with a breadth of teaching and mentorship experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As our Computer Science courses and labs utilize Linux, knowledge of Linux is an important asset. Our Team: It is an exciting time for Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge, as all of our Computer Science programs have experienced significant growth over the past several years. The faculty members that make up the Computer Science program are active researchers in a diverse set of areas, including database management, natural language processing, VLSI design, image processing, optimization, quantum computing, information and network security, software engineering, and data mining in music and sociolinguistics. Faculty are also actively involved in teaching for both the main Computer Science programs, as well as several combined degree programs with Geography and Environment, New Media and the Dhillon School of Business. The department has established masters and doctorial programs in Computer Science, as well as a thriving undergraduate student culture where students are involved in both research activity as well as clubs and programming contests.
