Position Details
The University of Lethbridge Grounds Maintenance Department requires the services of a qualified General Maintenance Worker to commence work as soon as possible. This will be a casual position starting October 25, 2023 and running through until March 31, 2024.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance, the incumbent will be responsible for general Grounds Maintenance duties as follows:

  • Snow clearing duties
         o   Hand Shovelling
         o   Light-duty Vehicle Operation
         o   Salt spreading
  • Garbage pickup and removal
  • Leaf/branch pickup, removal, and chipping
  • Shop maintenance and cleaning

This position is required to work evenings and weekends throughout the winter months and may be called in to assist with snow clearing activities outside of regularly scheduled shifts. 
**Ability to handle strenuous activities for long duration (2 hours at a time).

Hourly Wage: $19.84

Hours of Work: 6 – 37.5hrs per week typically being on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but can include other days of the week, including mornings and/or evenings.

Position Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a high school diploma and a valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

The successful candidate should have at least two years working experience with hand tools, power tools and general repair knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment. The successful candidate must be able to maintain effective working relationships with the University’s staff and the general public.
