Location:                  Lethbridge (exclusively on-campus)
Hours of work:       168 hours from October 17, 2023 to April 30, 2024
Salary:                      $5,549.52 for full appointment
Reports to:              Professional Development Coordinator, School of Graduate Studies

You will be integral in supporting graduate student retention and elevating the graduate student experience by supporting the January 2024 Graduate Peer Mentorship Program launch. Every day you will be building relationships to develop a trusted network of mentors and mentees.

How We’ll Make This a Great Position For You:
You will represent the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) and SGS Professional Development by promoting the Graduate Peer Mentorship Program launch and recruiting peer mentors, so it’s vital that we invest in you to be able to make an amazing first impression.

We’ll train and develop you to become a trusted contact to allow you to recruit and guide various stakeholders through the program launch.

Key Graduate Peer Mentorship Program Responsibilities:
  • Create and oversee the production of marketing and outreach materials pre- and post-program launch (e.g., email campaigns, pop-up booths, direct outreach, social media).
  • Respond to email inquires from students, staff, faculty, and prospective mentees.
  • Collect data from mentor and mentee participants. 
  • Provide administrative support, as required.

You will be part of a team that strives to create a diverse and inclusive community where students, faculty and staff feel welcome, are treated equitably, and can thrive in their various endeavors.

Qualifications:
You’ll be a great fit if:
  • You are registered in a graduate program in the Fall 2023 term and will continue to be registered in a graduate program through the Spring 2024 term (October 2023 to April 2024). NOTE: This is required as part of the eligibility to hold a Graduate Assistantship per the ULGSA Collective Agreement. 
  • You are able to work weekend and evenings, when necessary.
  • You have demonstrated commitment to valuing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • You are a self-starter and ready to independently manage a variety of tasks.
  • You are skilled at building and strengthening relationships and can work effectively with students, staff, faculty, etc.
  • You understand the importance of being the glue between graduate mentors and mentees, and between graduate students and Ulethbridge academic and administrative units. 
  • You enjoy collaborating with creative teams in coordinating, preparing, and producing deliverables for email campaigns, pop-up booths, direct outreach, social media, etc.
  • You have excellent technical skills, including knowledge of social media.
