The Department of Geography and Environment invites applications for a Tenure-Track position in Physical Geography at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin January 1, 2024, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $78,000 to $92,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. We are seeking a Physical Geographer with research interests in Climatology and expertise in Climate Change Impacts, Extreme Weather and Climate Change, or Climate Modelling. Expertise in climate dynamics and geospatial computation will also be considered. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in Geography or a cognate field and will be able to instruct undergraduate courses in climatology, geographical hazards and statistical or computational methods. We seek outstanding candidates with the capability to engage and inspire undergraduate and graduate students in their academic work, and who will show initiative in contributing to the department’s programs and curriculum development. The successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, active and externally funded research program.

The Department of Geography and Environment has an enthusiastic group of faculty members that includes human and physical geographers, environmental scientists, and archaeologists with diverse and active research programs. Faculty are also actively involved in multidisciplinary majors in Agricultural Studies, Urban and Regional Studies, Canadian Studies, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Science, Archaeology and Geography, GIS and Computer Science and Remote Sensing. The department has an established graduate program and a thriving undergraduate student culture, encouraged through faculty involvement.
